Description
A fine pair of portraits,depicting an English Gentleman and his beautifully dressed wife,both posing with elegance,towards the painter.Both portraits are painted with good detail and clarity,with the colours still sharp and vibrant.
Fully restored,cleaned ,wax relined and re-varnished at a cost of £500 each.
The original frames are both in reasonable condition,with just afew bits missing here and there,but not detracting from their lovely appearance and quite restorable.
The Victorian period craftsmanship is extremely well demonstrated in the finishing of these amazing frames.
Measurements for the actual canvas area are
29 1/2 Inches x 24 1/2 Inches.
The overall size to include the magnificent frames is a huge 43 INCHES X 38 INCHES.
THESE PORTRIATS OF A VERY LARGE SCALE.
The depth of the actual frame bordering the canvas is 7 Inches including the gilt slips.
The overall condition is very good for their age,with the restoration improving greatly the overall appearance.There is some faint crackling on the Gentlemans portrait consistant with age.
The face and facial expressions are brilliantly captured in this painting with great detail and precision showing in the excecution of the charactors face.
The photography has produced afew shiney reflective areas on the portraits,as light has bounced back to the camera,and are just illusions.

Delivery by private courier within the UK Mainland will be used for very large paintings and is charged at a flat rate of £80 for paintings only [ allow 7-14 days delivery time ]
International Delivery Quotes Worldwide are available on request by providing your full name and address together with a postal / area code and a contact number.
Returns are accepted within 14 days of receipt if the item is found to have been misdescribed and the purchaser may be liable for the return costs subject to reasons for return.
Returns authorisation should be requested by sending an e-mail before posting.
Once we receive the item in good order as supplied not withstanding notified transit damage, we will return payment using the same payment method.
