Description

A historically important WW2 period RAF officers mess clock. A moulded pediment to the oak case. The original back door lock, key and winding key. An engraved silvered dial with the RAF laurel emblem and blued steel hands. Convex glass to the case brass bezel with the original latch and push button side release.
An 8-day duration precision English fusee mechanism no. 12557 by F.W. Elliott in 1939.

F.W. Elliott Ltd, based in Croydon, London, played a significant role in the British war effort during World War II, producing specialized clocks for the military, particularly the Royal Air Force along with aircraft parts.

With the clock is an old auction description stating the clock was at RAF Syerston, Newark until 1971 when the base was closed.
