Description

A large practical set of pine drawers almost certainly from a large house with domestic servants . This would have been used by the housekeeper and kept 'downstairs'. A heavy, solid piece with original iron metalware , the handle drops being hand wrought.

The pine skirting at the bottom is a later addition . Also the back is later - it is quite possible this was a fitted installed cabinet to the wall without a back being made as was often the case with larger kitchen pieces. There are many signs of usage such as bruises, knocks and wear, as would be expected given its daily use from around 1880 onwards, as well as a little historical woodworm.
Size 138cm high, 123cm width, 41cm depth.
