Description

A charming Japanese carved wood netsuke depicting a stylized face or mask-like form. This small, hand-carved piece is a wonderful example of traditional Japanese miniature sculpture, designed to be worn suspended from a kimono sash (obi).

The netsuke features a simplified yet expressive carving of a face with two distinct round indentations for eyes. Below the eyes are further carved or possibly inked details that contribute to the character of the face. The wood has a warm, natural tone and a smooth finish consistent with handling over time.
