Charming 19th Century French Ormolu & Bronze Figural Tazza - Gift Inscribed 1869A delightful 19th-century French tazza or compote featuring a rich combination of ormolu (gilded bronze) and patinated bronze. The piece showcases a central sculptural element of two playful cherubic figures (putti) supporting the decorative bowl. The base and rim of the bowl are adorned with intricate, gilded ormolu detailing typical of the period.
The underside of the bowl bears a poignant inscription: "A / ERNEST SALMON. / SES AMIS. / 29 Avril - 1869" (To Ernest Salmon. His Friends. April 29th - 1869), indicating it was a gift presented on this date.
