Description

A splendid early 18th Century Japanese Imari vase and domed cover with a Komainu finial. This vase from the Edo period, has four lobbed reserves, each painted with foliage and chrysanthemums, the national flower of Japan. The ground is profusely decorated with further flowers and C and S scrolls in under glaze blue and over glaze iron red and gilt. The domed cover has a distinctive iron red Komainu finial. The condition of this antique vase is very good with no chips. There is a firing crack to the domed cover, but this is not detrimental to the appearance of this outstanding piece of ceramic art. Lots more photos of this piece are available upon request. An outstanding 18th Century vase and cover to add decorative impact to any room.
