Description

A large and impressive table globe from the British company Philips. Having no date to the makers label we have carried out some investiagation to establish a date for its manufacture. The indications are it is circa 1949. Israel is shown (1948) Siam is not yet Thailand (1949) and Germany is not yet divided (1949).

The globe is constructed from two pasteboard hemispheres with hand applied paper gores joined at the equator. On a polished mount with the trademark Everite stepped black Bakelite base.

The whole has faded to a wonderful sepia tone. There are marks throughout of previous use, nicks, crazing and minor staining however all is fully legible and presents in a glorious vintage condition.
