'The History Of The Girondists' by Alphonse De Lamartine, published by Henry G. Bohn, London in 1856. Complete in three volumes.


Three quarter bound tan leather with five raised bands and red leather title and volume panels. Marbled boards. There is some light shelf wear to the extremities in some areas but generally all volumes display well.

Marbled pastedown. Pencil markings to the front endpapers. Spotting to the preliminary pages, otherwise all other pages remain clean and bright.

SYNOPSIS

This Alphonse De Lamartine's monumental work. It blends historical narrative with the lyrical style of Romanticism. Although titled after the Girondist faction, the work serves s a broad history of the French Revolution from the death of Mirabeau to the fall of Robespierre.
