Description

A large 18th century Georgian oak mule chest.

The chest has four fielded panels flanked by two column, all above two short drawers raised on block feet and topped with a later rectangular top with a cross banded edge. The lid opens to reveal a large oak lined compartment with an additional two drawers.

The chest has some wear commensurate with age, mainly to the left drawer moulding and the inside of the right block foot (please see photographs). The piece has a wonderful patina throughout.

An extremely functional and attractive piece.

Provenance: From the private collection of a Suffolk gentleman.
