English delft ex-Warner plate. Joseph Flower.

Description

Description.
A particularly lovely example of a Bristol delft deep dish/bowl. Charmingly painted with a Chinese landscape, consisting of a pagoda adjacent to a fence, apparently standing on a low bridge. Marshy ground to the forefront of the painted scene. Mountains in the distance. Willows and other plants in the vicinity of the pagoda.

Swagged border decoration.

Warner collection sticker and further stickers suggesting the item was probably painted by Joseph Flower. In our view, that is relatively unlikely, but the conjunction of the Warner sticker and the attribution must add to the weight of the claim in that respect.

Condition
In excellent antique condition. Some very minor rim damage.
