Unusual Early Victorian Silver Vesta Case

Description

This is an unusual early Victorian Silver Vesta Case designed as a Matchbox. The Vesta Case has a Family Crest of a Lion & Anchor with initials of EM below and a strike plate at one end, probably made as a one off for a wealthy client.

Made by Silversmith Aston & Son and Hallmarked in the Birmingham Assay Office in 1859 which includes a duty mark.

The Vesta Case weighs 31g and measures 47mm x 27mm x 10mm.

The Vesta Case is in good condition with no damage but some staining from the matches stored within. More images are available including hallmarked date letter K.
