Description

This is a Stunning Victorian Silver Scallop Shaped Vinaigrette with vacant Cartouche, decorative engraving and pierced grill.

The vinaigrette was used to mask the unpleasant smells of the period with a small sponge soaked in perfume below the grill, which was held to the nose when required.

Made by Silversmith William Davenport and Hallmarked in the Birmingham Assay Office in 1860.

The Vinaigrette weighs 27g and measures 40mm x 31mm x 25mm.

The Vinaigrette is in excellent condition with no damage.
