George III Silver Chamberstick

Description

This is an unusual George III Chamber Stick of circular form with fluted column and gadrooned base. There is a detachable sconce, snuffer, and pricket insert. There is a rubbed family crest to the base and snuffer.

The Chamber Stick weighs 172g and measures 83mm across the base and 70mm high.

Made by Silversmith Thomas & Joseph Guest & Joseph Craddock this was a London maker, but there is no London Assay Office mark. The date letter Q being 1811 for London Assay Office. The hallmark includes a duty mark.

The Chamber Stick is in good condition but lacks hallmarks to the pricket inset.
