A beautifully detailed 19th century French bronze figure of the prisoner, Georges Danton, the French revolutionary leader (executed 1794), bearing the plaque with the inscription "tu montreras ma tete au elle en vaut bien la peine" which translates as "you will show my face it is well worth it". Signed "Bouret" Eutrope Bouret was a student of Louis Buhot. He exhibited at the Salon from 1875 to 1903. He worked in conventional materials: marble, plaster, terracotta and bronze. 570mm high, 190mm wide and 180mm deep. French. Circa 1885.
