Description

A large 19th Century French desk globe. Raised on a turned and ebonised base with inset compass. This thirteen and a half inch diameter terrestrial globe (globe terrestre) is constructed from a plaster base sphere covered with chromolithographed paper gores showing countries, cities and topographical details. The globe bears the label "J. Lebegue & Cie Editeurs, 30 Rue de Lille 30, Paris". 560mm high and 330mm diameter. French. Circa 1880
