Description

An exquisite and rare, early 19th century French Lacquer, Tortoiseshell Lined, Box.The Lid inset with circular domed Glass enclosing Blue Guilloche Enamel on which is set Fine Hairwork Bows mounted with Seed Pearls,Oval Cameo framed with tiny pieces of Abalone Shell, all enclosed in a Garland of Leaves which also have set upen them Florets of White Beads,the Frame has a surround of small Cut Steelwork. The Lacquer has a Red Ground with Black Sprigwork detail.There is indication of an old repair to Lacquer Frame...difficult to see and quite sound. Dimensions:-8 X 2.5cms.
