Description
19th Century Russian Vladimirskaya School IconA highly decorative 19th century Vladimir Mother of God icon in the style of the Vladimirskaya workshop.It is painted on to a solid 2cm deep wooden panel, mounted in an ecclesiastical arched frame, all encompassed in a hinged deep section case, fronted with glass.
Condition
The icon has a few woodworm holes visible from the rear which have been treated. There are minor blemishes to the surface of the icon. The top of the frame has been broken off and reglued, see image. The glass has been replaced with 19th century glass and is held in place with glazing wedges. The casing has various splits grazes and age associated wear.
