Late 19th Century French Leather Glove or Jewellery Box.Dates from the Napoleon III era c.1860-70s.
This beautiful wooden box is covered with dark tan leather (black on the base) and has lovely brass detailing to the slightly domed top: stylized floral brass mounts to all four corners and a brass plate with a ring (for lifting the lid/opening the box) in the centre.
Solid brass keyhole escutcheon with a key and working lock.
Strong hinges.
Four tiny brass feet.
The box has stunning royal blue silk quilted interior with tiny round pearl buttons.
The box is sturdy. There is a little minor scuffing to the leather (age dry in places).
The interior is in amazing antique condition with no wear and complete with all pearl buttons.
Overall, the box is in superb antique condition and of wonderful quality. Ready to use and enjoy.
