First Edition set and complete in three volumes

Hardbacks bound in 19th century full leather bindings with gilt decorated borders to front & rear boards, elaborate gilt tooling to spines, page edges gilt with gilt inner dentelles & marbled endpapers, numerous full page engravings with numerous engravings among, very occasional plate in colour [all plates are present & correct].

Each book measures approx 10 x 7 inches.

Some minor rubbing & minor marks to leather covers, corners bumped, private bookplate to inner front boards with a nice hand written related inscription to front endpapers dated 1862, majority of the plates have some foxing or offsetting to text pages opposite, one folding plate is detached but present. Overall a set in very good condition with all hinges strong & binding firm.
