Rare & high quality 19th Century anatomical dissected wax head model mounted on a wall hanging wooden picture frame.

Late 19th Century. Probably German.

European anatomical wax model of a human head, left profile, mounted on board. Realistic depictions of teeth, jaw, tongue, muscles, veins, facial hair, nervous and arterial system of the head and neck.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, students used intricate wax anatomical models that vividly represented organs, bones, and tissue.

Good condition for period. A couple of small areas of possible glued & painted restoration to top back area of skull. See photos (hardly noticeable). Front of face, mouth, teeth and neck in very good condition. Some cracking around edges of the wooden frame. All structurally solid..

The wooden board frame has a bracket for wall hanging, or it can be displayed laying down on a pedestal or table.
