Large Rustic Pine c.1900 Adjustable Potting Table

Photos

Description

The late nineteenth century pine table having an unusual rectangular adjustable hinged two-plank work surface top revealing a slatted base with cast iron fitments and pine arms to the ends, the red ochre stained carcass having square legs united by a central stretcher surviving from the late Victorian to early Edwardian period.

The condition is good and honest and sits structurally sound. One of the side adjustment arms is a later replacement. The pine is beautifully dry and rustic, the legs with some old paint splashes, the slatting is not as strong as it once was but all in good original order. It has likely been outside, part covered so the wood is softer than it would be otherwise but still strong for purpose. There is some natural bend to the top two planks.

A versatile and rather unusual table that could be used for gardening purposes or simply as a kitchen table with a twist, bursting with character and wonderfully unpretentious.
