An Attractive Early/Mid 20thC Painted Oak Bookcase

Description
Painted in an attractive blue grey reminiscent of the 1830s, with a darker slate base and distressed, the free-standing bookcase in the seventeenth century style with a central arcaded lower panel with architectural columns and ing to the cornice, the carcass having two shelves, one adjustable shelf with one fixed shelf under, above two cupboard doors opening to reveal a shared central storage space sitting on a shaped apron on bracket feet with drop ring handles.Structurally sound, the doors close and remain closed thanks to a magnetic clicker and the sides, back and shelving are all very solid.
Bookcases were first introduced in the 15th century and with few changes along the way to their design, the history of bookcases is indeed a simple and short affair. What cannot be argued with however is that books are as still supremely valued today as they were in the time of the Tudors.
A bookcase of versatile size in an appealing colour scheme that would work splendidly in various settings.
