Description

The single chair, having a high triangular laddered back splat and triangular stretcher with studded leather upholstery this example of Arts and Crafts craftsmanship is really rather striking.

The chair has a good patina and quality feel, standing well, and is overall in fine condition.

Indicative of the arts and crafts period, which held as tenets an appreciation of nature, inspired by traditional, “honest” pre-industrial periods such as mediaeval and Celtic, the design here is unusual in the combination of shapes and angles used.

Certainly, this piece is a good example of arts and crafts period furniture in its more dramatic form.
