Description

A good quality, Antique, Victorian, English Sterling Silver Pocket Watch made by Benjamin Hill & Sons of Barnstaple and dating from c1896.
The full plate, English Lever movement is in very good, clean condition and excellent working order. It is fully signed by the maker "Benj'n. Hill & Sons, Barnstaple" and has the serial number 6904 to match the case proving both are original and have been together since new. It is key wound and set by the key provided.
The white enamel dial is in very good condition with the hours in Roman numerals and a sub-seconds dial at six o'clock. It is also signed by the maker's.
The solid sterling silver case is in excellent condition. It has engine turned engraving to the rear with a central cartouche that is free of initials. It is hallmarked with the case maker's initials "IJTN" for Isaac Jabez Theo Newsome(casemaker and Watch manufacturer, The Butts, Coventry), the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Chester town mark and date letter "N" for 1896/97.

The watch measures 52mm in diameter. The weight is 144.6g
