Description

A very rare Georgian wine bottle ticket / decanter label, marked "Calcavala". Made by Robert Garrard 1st, London
Neo-classical (1770-1800) Robert Adam influenced from the great age of wine labels.
Calcavala was a Portuguese sweet wine that was very popular wine that went out of fashion at the end of the Georgian era.
Many of these tickets sadly ended up in the melting pot when there was no longer any call for them thus making them very hard to find today.
There is a small old repair in the top right hand side which can be seen in photo's.
