Diameter: 17.5"/44.5cm

Staddle Stones were originally used to raise granaries, haystacks and even beehives from the ground to improve air circulation and deter vermin. The domed cap on the staddle stone made it almost impossible for rodents to pass. The name "staddle" comes from the old English word stathol, which means "base" or "support".
These stones would have been carved from local stone probably from the Hampshire area.
Today Staddle Stones are used as decorative garden features often at the entrance or along driveways.
