1800's Lock & Co Silk Top Hat

Description
Stunning early Lock & Co top hat.We would estimate the the hat dates to around the mid 1800's.
It remains in remarkable condition for it's age.
There is the usual wear to the inside particularly where your thumb lifts the hat. The exterior is excellent.
The Christy box that we are supplying the hat in will not be original to the hat however it is of significant value showing the original Christys' London label, addressed to Parliament Street Nottingham.
The hat bares, other than the Lock & Co label a further initial emblem which warrants research.
Lock & Co hats have a wonderful history dating back as far as 1676 & have two Royal Warrants not to mention a a catalouge of past clients from Admiral Lord Nelson, Sir Winston Churchill, Oscar Wilde, Prince of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh
The hat shows a little wear to the inner area around where the thumb will have lifted the hat. The inner headband shows discolouration as can be seen in the images. The condition of the silk it excellent.
Very collectible box included.
