Description

This little silver wine label was produced by the well known female silversmith Hester Bateman in London in the late 18th century. The hallmark shows only the silver assay mark and the makers mark. She was active in her own right between 1761 and 1790. The label is for 'Malmsey' wine, the sweetest of the madeira range. The suspension chain is unmarked but appears original. The label measures 4.2cm x 2.0cm. and is in very good condition.
