Description

Stunning pair of very large late 19th century Indian bronze statues of Hindu Goddesses,c1890. Given the quality of the casting they are most probably from Rajasthan and I think they depict Deepalakshmi and Madhuchista Vidanna. The pair are very heavy at 40kg (20kg each) and stand on integral raised bases. The bronze has taken on great colour/patina . The shaping and form of the bodies is very good and the features have fine detail and have been well executed. They present well and are highly decorative . Both statues are in good condition, on one the bowl is fixed to the hands and on the other you can remove it, However it sits perfectly in the hands and visually they look identical so this in no way detracts from the beauty of the statues.
