Description

Pair of late 19th century Indian hand carved polychrome puppets, c1890. Probably from North India they are beautifully carved and painted. The colours, mainly greens, red and gold are still vibrant with just the right amount of wear. They have been placed on later wood bases and both are missing their hands ,which is not unusual in older examples. This is all part of their character and history and in no way detracts from their naïve beauty.
