Description

Fine late 18th century Indian polychrome statue of the Hindu goddess Saraswati, c1790. Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of knowledge and the arts and is traditionally shown playing a musical instrument called a veena. Hand carved and painted this is a nicely composed and executed example and the colours are still vibrant. Highly decorative the statue would display well in a traditional or modern setting. Overall condition is good with only minor surface wear/loss of paint/rubbing, exactly as you would expect from an old example.
