Description

Fine set of four 19th century Chinese carved wood and polychrome statues,c1880. They are well carved and executed examples with lovely colour/patina as the paint/gilt and lacquer has aged and the pieces have been handled. All 4 figures are depicted as seated on large chairs/thrones and are most probably high ranking scholars or officials. All of the figures have handwritten labels with Chinese script attached to the rear. Overall condition is good with only minor age related wear, including some very small losses to the paint/gilt and wood.
