Description

An impressive Victorian mahogany secretaire.
The bookcase has six glazed cupboards with working locks and key. The base unit has two pillar cupboards with working locks and key. The bureau section opens with a spring lock and key. The front hinges down to reveal the internal bureau which has a leather tooled writing surface, six pigeon holes, two drawers with bone handles and a central cupboard with working lock and key. Additionally there are also two dummy books which can be withdrawn to reveal secret compartments.


It has original brass fittings throughout and decorative moulding to the door frames and drawer front in an Arts and Crafts design. The glazing is also original. The secretaire splits into three sections. The sections connect with dowel locators.
It is in good condition with marks and wear commensurate with its age and previous use.
