Description

An unusual take on a west country longcase clock By William Evill of Bath, Somerset. He is listed as working there from 1819 to 1826 This superb quality example has a most attractive silvered dial and a beautifully figured mahogany case.

The case is veneered in panels of contrasting colour mahogany separated with ebony stringing. Both the hood and trunk have superbly detailed cast brass Corinthian capitals. The hood and trunk doors have working locks and key. The hood has retained its original ball and eagle finials.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a nice clear silvered dial with subsidiary seconds and date dials.

Both the case and movement are in excellent condition and it is working well and keeping good time.

214cm (84.25") high excluding finials, + 13cm (5") with finials
49cm (19") wide
