Description

A rare example of a bifacial french silver cross pendant. The pendant comprising of a bifacial cross with saltire detailing, rosette finials, palmettes and central fleur de lys. Madonna and child to the obverse and crucifix the the reverse with loop suspension ring. With fitted easel box. In very fine condition. Tested positive for silver. Difficult to date but would estimate c1860
The meaning of this cross in Christianity Is to symbolise the birth, death and resurrection of Christ.
