Description

Dating from circa 1860 this chain driven twin fusee clock is in gorgeous condition. The case, dial and movement have all just been restored and this imposing clock is now ready for its new home. The eight day movement is in fine condition and can be viewed through the original bevelled edge glass to each side of the case.

The mahogany case has a sweeping top with applied scrolling foliage surrounding the 21 cm dial, complimented by original spade hands, has the original spelling of 'Aberystwith' and the maker's name, James Truscott. This clock also benefits from retaining the original business leaflet and is an unexpected bonus feature of this lovely piece.

The rack striking movement has shouldered plates and a working pull/repeat function and the bell is a lovely tone striking the full hour on the hour. Being a superior piece the adjustment on the pendulum is via a top rating nut rather than the more common fiddly assembley under the pendulum. The solid brass bezel containing the original bevelled glass is opened by a working push button on the side and this lovely clock comes with my three year guarantee as standard.

Clockwise specialises in longcase and bracket clocks and with global clients from the world of business, film, sport, royalty and aristocracy - yet more than happy with traditional clients - Clockwise has an unrivalled reputation for excellence and superb service.
