Description

Clockwise is delighted to present this very fine Georgian mahogany eight day longcase clock. This rack-striking four pillar movement has the superior dead-beat escapement (as opposed to the more traditional anchor configuration) and strikes the full hour on a sonorous bell. The square13 1/2 inch dial has been carefully restored with five minute intervals painted outside the numerals as befits the period. There is a working subsidiary date and seconds dial and roses decorate each dial corner. The dial lies behind original rippled glass and is framed by decorative brasswork to the case hood door. The hood is flanked by reeded pillars and brass capitals to the top and bottom of each pillar and a substantial brass hood knob adds the finishing touch. The swan neck top is adorned with three spire/ball finials. Moving down the case a brass band lies atop the trunk which contains the long door with a working key and lock, the keyhole decorated by the original brass escutcheon. The trunk is flanked by reeded quarter pillars. The base of the clock stands on four feet and is in excellent condition with an original decorative panel reflecting the high quality of this superlative clock.

The movement has just been restored along with new lines and as such benefits from my three year guarantee and this clock comes complete with a crank key.

Clockwise specialises in longcase and bracket clocks and with clients from the world of business, film, sport, royalty and aristocracy - yet more than happy with traditional clients - Clockwise has an unrivalled reputation for excellence and superb service.
