Description

1855 pattern Honourable Artillery company sword in its gilt brass and leather mounted scabbard. Has a gilt brass hilt with flaming bomb motto and a copper wire bound shagreen grip. There is a broad, tapering, double edged blade which is marked 'Asswell (?) & Crowe Poland St, Oxford Street. London'. Also marked with the original owners name of W T Phillps in foliage and with a family breast etched into blade. Sound but used condition overall with acid staining & rusting to blade, one hanging ring missing and some damage to the shagreen on the grip. There are some edge nicks to the blade and also a dent to the end of scabbard shape.

Approximately 96cm overall and blade 80cm.
