Description

A fabulous English oak gateleg dining table, circa 1640.

This early example of gateleg dining table shows many years of use and enjoyment throughout its long lifespan wonderfully patinated as a result. Each drop leaf section is in good working order, with the depth from the 17th century English oak exuding historical charm and character.

At one side of the table, a deep pull out drawer is situated, with a simple iron teardrop handle, mounted to a three leaf clover behind. The table is sat over 4 turned spindle legs joined by a square stretcher, upon turned out block style feet.

The superior quality of this near 400 year old piece ensures all parts are fully functional and in working order, commensurate with age.

A truly wonderful slice of history to own, and a superb addition to a dining area, or as a central focal point in a hallway or reception room.
