A fabulous James I English Oak Coffer, dated 1613.

This wonderful coffer dates from 1613, as detailed on the escutcheon plate in the centre of the piece. It is superbly patinated as a result, and features carved in relief at the front of the chest with fruits, foliage and flowers, flanking a central vase decoration.

The coffer sits over scroll detailed bracket style corner feet, and bears a hinged lid on top, underneath which a hollow storage section is situated.

A carved relief sits at each end of the chest, with a flower framed in a diamond and sat over a lower scrolled edge.
