Description

A rare late Victorian Chinoiserie black lacquered wall clock with striking fusee movement. The case and dial are both in excellent original condition, the case decorated with finely executed hand-painted scenes to all sides, and with brass fretwork panels to the sides, and a locking pendulum access door in the base.

The 12-inch dial has been painted in gold with Chinese numerals and typical Chinese painted rural scenes. It is set behind a glazed spun brass bezel.

The chain twin fusee 8-day movement has rectangular plates, and strikes the hours on a bell.

The back of the case has a label for Camerer, Cuss & Co., Watch and Clock manufacturers, retailers and repairers.
