Description

A good example of an 1820s verge dial clock, the wooden dial and surround from one piece of mahogany.

The evenly aged original cream painted 12-inch dial is signed for Alcock and Wright, London.

The substantial cast brass bezel is convex in section, with a very narrow mahogany dial surround visible beyond.

The flat based back box has access doors to the base and side.

Five-pillared 8-day movement with tapered plates and verge escapement.

Matching brass hands.

The movement is awaiting overhaul, but all complete and original.

Diameter 15 inches (38cms)
