Description

A splendid late 19th century French marquetry commode. Very well constructed in the Louis XV style. Kingwood and walnut veneers onto a solid oak carcas. Of serpentine , bombe form. Decorated throughout with floral marquetry inlay in boxwood, satinwood, mahogany and burr yew. Unusually this commode has marquetry to the top (instead of the more common marble top). The top is surrounded with a solid brass gallery. The rest of the chest is adorned with crisply cast ormolu mounts. With a series of 2 drawers (both lockable, key supplied). Cleaned and waxed in our workshops , this charming commode is offered for sale in very good condition, ready to go straight into the home.
