Here we have a very attractive Set of Five Edwardian Sterling Silver Coffee Spoons in the Aesthetic style. The fronts of the stems are deeply engraved with flowers and foliage and an initial S is engraved in the cartouches at the top.

The coffee spoons were made in Sheffield by noted silversmiths Joseph Rodgers & Sons and date to 1907. Joseph Rodgers set up his firm in 1843, becoming Joseph Rodgers & Sons in 1862, when his son George became a partner in the business. They were very accomplished silversmiths and electroplaters with manufacturing in Sheffield and a showroom in London's Holborn Viaduct, home to many high end retailers at the time. They remained in business into at least the early 1970s.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the minimal superficial surface wear that you would anticipate after over 115 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each spoon is 11cm / 4.3ins long and the set of five together weighs in at a very respectable 70.5g / 2.5oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the undersides of the stems, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter p for 1907 and the J R makers' mark for Joseph Rodgers & Sons alongside their star and cross trademark.
