This is a good quality Vintage Sterling Silver Mustard Spoon in the traditional Old English pattern. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The spoon was made in Sheffield by Francis Howard Ltd and dates to 1966. Francis Howard established his firm in Sheffield in 1870, initially as electroplaters and then registering a Sterling Silver mark in 1878. In 1883 the company moved to the Aberdeen Works in the centre of Sheffield, where they remain in business under the Howard family to this day. They specialise in tableware, cutlery and flatware and are principally suppliers to trade customers, particularly hotels and the catering trade.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no corrosion and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passsage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The mustard spoon is 7.1cm / 2.8ins long and weighs in at 4.9g / 0.17oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter Y for 1966 and the F H in a circle makers' mark for Francis Howard Ltd.
