Description

This is a smart Mid-Century Sterling Silver Napkin Ring in the Art Deco style. The circular ring has bands of line decoration at top and bottom and engine turning around the body with a blank oblong cartouche at the front.

The napkin ring was made by Bishton's Ltd and assayed in Birmingham in 1954. Founded in 1944, Bishton’s were based in Bromsgrove in Worcestershire. They were jewellery and accessory manufacturers who supplied items to many retailers and also produced a small range of silverware. The firm ceased trading in 2017.

Condition is good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 4.1cm / 1.6ins in diameter and 2.4cm / 0.94ins deep and weighs in at 12.6g / 0.44oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the outside of the napkin ring, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter E for 1954 and the B.Ld makers' mark for Bishton's Ltd.
