George V Silver Mounted Dressing Table Pot, 1919

Description
This is an attractive George V Cut Glass Dressing Table Pot with a Sterling Silver lid. The glass bowl is bulbous with diamond cut and dogtooth cut panels and a star cut base. The silver lid is plain with a gilt interior. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind. The pot was made in Birmingham by the Wilmot Manufacturing Company and dates to 1919. The firm was founded in Birmingham in the early 1900s by Walter Marks, brothers John & William Wilmot and Samuel Cohn. Initially electroplaters, they began manufacturing silverware in 1912 and also produced brass and chrome novelties. In the 1920s they began producing car parts and accessories and by the late 1930s they had moved entirely into this area.
Condition is fair with no chips or cracks in the glass bowl. There is a shallow bruise to the side of the silver lid at one point plus the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate after 105 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The dressing table pot is 8.3cm / 3.25ins in diameter and stands 5.9cm / 2.3ins high. The lid by itself weighs in at a respectable 20.9g / 0.74oz of solid Sterling Silver and all in the pot weighs 216.4g / 7.6oz.
The hallmarks, on the rim of the lid, are a little rubbed but still easy to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter u for 1919 and the W.M.Co makers' mark for the Wilmot Manufacturing Company.
