Description

Set of 4 Black Basalt Plaques from the 12 Ceasars Collection. We believe these possibly to be wedgewood but there are no markings. There is evidence that the frames were originally painted in goldleaf but have been painted over with a cream gloss. Plaque 1 is a portrait of `TITVS AVG` which was number 2 in the collection. Plaque 2 is of `AVITEL GERM'and has a number 9 at the bottom of the portrait so believed to be 9th in the collection.Plaque 3 is of `NERO AVG' and plaque 4 is of `DIVVS AVGVST,. the 4 plaques are all black basalt. There is 5th smaller plaque which we believe to be a relief and is being given as a free item when buying the set of 4.We believe items to be circa 1800 as research has resulted in a plaque of TITUS being donated to the Birmingham Museaum and was described as Wedgewood and Bently circa 1770s.Plaques Have been commanding High prices for marked wedgewood at auctions. A set of the 12 plaques sold at Bonhams auction house in December 2014 for £9165.00 (average £800.00 each plaque)

We have priced these as honestly and as fair as possibls and know the asking price to be a bargain.
