Description

A magnificent antique Victorian inlaid rosewood coal scuttle, with mechanical opening twin doors and liner, dating from circa 1880. In wonderfully figured rosewood throughout, the front panels inlaid with a marquetry design and decorated with brass beading. This unusual piece features a metamorphic design the beautifully made handle when pulled back mechanically opens the two doors to the front. With removable liner to the inside and (later) shovel to the back.
