We have wanted one of these compacts ever since we first started collecting. The famous mid-century Stratton 'Toasts' compact mirror. An ideal gift to celebrate a special occasion. As the compact is fashioned from brass this would make an ideal 21st anniversary (brass) wedding gift also. This is such an adorable vintage accessory! The main lid is enamel and it is adorned with hand painted toasts from all over the world as well as colourful bottles of alcohol, glasses of wine, cocktails, mugs of beer, grapes on the vine, lemons, cork screws & even two magic wands. What a fun collectible to present to a loved one. As you can see the enamel decorations have been applied using great skill. This compact was made in the heyday of the Stratton brand. The mirror gives an excellent reflection. The base is decorated with a fine spiral. The last image shows the advertisement placed by the owners of the Stratton brand to advertise the Stratton 'Toasts' accessories in 1954 (Everywoman Magazine). This adorable vintage Stratton compact measures almost 3" & weighs 93.9 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
